- Important Passport Expiration Rules Apply for Entry to Some Countries Some countries now have entry restrictions that require the expiration date on your passport to be no more than 30 to 180 days from your date of entry or you can be denied entry into their country. One of our recent customers learned when planning a trip to Sweden that his passport was expiring within 180 days of the date of entry and had to get a new passport before going. Please have your travel agent check on the specific requirements for the country of your intended trip when planning your travel.
- New Border Passport Rules Delayed June 8, 2007 — The Bush administration announced today it will delay the air requirements of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, a law that would require citizens of the United States to have a passport when entering into the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda. U.S. citizens will temporarily be allowed to re-enter the United States from anywhere in the Western Hemisphere provided the traveler can prove he or she applied for a passport. This action allows air passengers to travel without passports through Sept. 30, 2007 if they show a receipt verifying their application for a passport.
- Travel Industry Seeks Delay on New Passport Rules at U.S. Borders WASHINGTON, Aug. 17, 2007 — The nation’s largest travel industry association urged the Bush administration on Thursday to delay until June 2009 putting into effect a law requiring Americans traveling from Canada, Mexico, Panama and the Caribbean islands to present passports to return to the United States.
